12th Cheque Ceremony by the Mauritius Telecom Foundation to 12 NGOs in Rodrigues

The Mauritius Telecom Foundation organised a cheque presentation ceremony for NGOs in Rodrigues aiming to provide financial assistance for their projects. 
The ceremony took place on 14 May 2022 at Le Cocotier Hotel in Rodrigues in the presence of Mr Jean Daniel Henry, Head of Mauritius Telecom Foundation, Mr Bashir Mahamode, Consultant Mauritius Telecom Foundation, Mr Vishwaraj Malloo, Mauritius Telecom Foundation Coordinator and Mr Deepak Dabypersad, Manager MT Rodrigues.

12 NGOs have benefited from this financial aid (Rs 1 million):

1. Association SOS Pauvreté
Reducing the number of drug, alcohol and cigarette users through social integration of children.


2. Voluntary Blood Donors Association
Encouraging the donation of blood through awareness campaigns in villages, colleges and groups and also by recruiting safe blood donors from the healthy population aged between 17 and 65.

3. Action Familiale
Educating young citizens and adults of Rodrigues about the prevention of early pregnancy and providing training sessions to young people.


4. Eau Vannée Village Community
Improving the socio-economic condition of the inhabitants of Eau-Vannée and other villages in the vicinity by providing training, access to ICT and Life skills training sessions for children, youth and women.


5. Rodrigues Students Needs Association
Conducting IC3 classes and encouraging social entrepreneurship through farming.


6. The Trevor Huddleston House for the Disabled
Conducting awareness campaign on an islandwide basis to educate the population about the signs and symptoms of hearing impairment and how this can affect the social and educational advancement of a person.


7. Careco
Empowering people with disabilities and alleviating poverty in Rodrigues by providing training and production workshop.


8. Rodrigues Nouvelle Decouverte Judo Club
Promoting the practice of judo as well as multiculturalism.


9. Association Les Enfants D’Abord
Providing basic training (singing, music, dancing and drama) mainly to underprivileged children.


10. EDYCS Epilepsy Group
Promoting good practices of oral hygiene and dental health.


11. Caritas Rodrigues
Providing hot meals to poor and needy students on a daily basis.


12. Ravanne Rodrigues
Empowering young girls to make healthy choices for their future with special focus on sexual and reproduction health.
