Launch of Basic Adult Literacy Programme in Bois Marchand

The basic adult literacy programme was launched in 28 January 2010 at Bois Marchand under the aegis of NEF/EAP. The objectives of the adult literacy programme are to impart basic literacy to 15 people who have low educational achievements, promote self-reliance and give exposure to English and French language to beneficiaries and to empower women for a better social integration, in both social and professional life.


The service provider for the project is Caritas Ile Maurice for a period of 6 months, courses are provided for 2 hours on Thursdays. The funding of this activity falls under the EAP funds available at National Empowerment Foundation (Rs 7,000,000) contributed by Mauritius Telecom Foundation in 2010.
